Dehumidifiers for Dust Mite Allergy

The relative humidity in your home, particularly in your bedroom, will have a significant effect on the dust mite population. Dust mites need warm humid air to survive. They also need a type of fungi to break down the dead skin cells on which they live, which is also dependent on a certain level of moisture in the air.

A dehumidifier works wonders at removing moisture and eliminating the source of food and drink that the dust mite depends upon. The ideal humidity level is between 40 - 60%. If you are very dust mite or mould allergic we recommend that you keep the humidity level between 40 - 50%. Always deal with sources of moisture so that leaks are fixed and you control the amount of humidity you generate through your own activities - drying washing on radiators for example.
