Longing for spring and summer but can't go out when it comes?
If you suffer from hay fever you are amongst a growing number of people in this country who do and it can start as early as March and continue into the autumn. The severity of hay fever ranges from mild symptoms to quite debilitating symptoms with streaming and itchy eyes and a streaming nose. The symptoms can often be worse in the morning. You may even find that your pet that you tolerate perfectly well during the other months of the year also causes you problems during the hay fever season. Hay fever is almost synonymous with allergic rhinitis having symptoms in common though it can also be the result of dust mite allergy.
If your parents and siblings suffer from hay fever you may feel that it is normal that you should also suffer and that there is nothing you can do about it. It is certainly more difficult to control the symptoms outside but you can make a haven for yourself indoors where you can be free of symptoms.
It is a shame to dread the summer and the hay fever season. It causes frustration, embarrassment and can even cause you to feel isolated when you cannot go out with friends. Remember that the triggers for hay fever vary according to where you live and the time of year and that there may be a cross reaction with certain foods making your hay fever worse.
