All our washable masks have adjustable latex-free ear loops and fit into your pocket or handbag. They can be washed by hand in cool water.
This Honeycomb Mask reduces exposure to fragrances, particles, cigarette smoke, smog, dust, diesel fumes, VOCs and household chemicals from 50% to 95% depending on the substance. It removes 99% of particles down to one micron. The mask is made up of a comfortable, porous outer layer which holds a disposable carbon filter. The carbon filter is effective for twenty to forty hours of use. We recommend replacing it if it becomes hard to breathe or the smell or taste of pollution comes through. This will depend on what substances are being filtered out and also how sensitive you are. The Honeycomb Mask comes with one Activated Carbon Filter.
The Honeycomb mask, but not the carbon filter, can be washed in cool water with an unscented detergent that does not leave a residue to clog the filter. Do not rub as rubbing could rearrange the weave of the fabric. Rinse well. To dry the mask quickly roll it in a terry cloth towel. Alternatively, hang the mask to dry.
Frequency of washing depends upon humidity, activity, and grit in the air. If breathing through the mask becomes difficult or you begin to feel a burning sensation in your chest, remove your mask and wash it. Do not dry clean. As the mask ages (washed about sixty times), the filtration becomes more "efficient," meaning it needs to be washed more often-about every two to three hours instead of four to six hours of wearing time.
"I just wanted to write to thank you for all your help with the honeycomb mask. Using the mask has substantially decreased the effect that chemicals are having on me but I think that I will take up the idea of using 2 filters as I am very sensitive. It is so much more comfortable than the Respro mask and a lot less 'in your face'. I don't feel quite so conspicuous in Tesco! I have now ordered two pairs of filters as I am sure I will be using my new mask a lot in the future."
