WH3

4 Images

The Standard Wholehouse unit comes in two sizes. The WH3 has a 300,000 litre capacity for up to four people. The WH6 has a 600,000 litre capacity for five or more people. The unit is designed to be plumbed in where the water enters the house. It is relatively easy to fit by an experienced DIY person or a plumber and comes with complete fitting instructions.

The 5 Micron Pre-filter removes sediment and prolongs the life of the filter cartridge. The Carbon Block cartridge is very effective at removing 99.99% of chlorine and organic compounds such as trihalomethane, pesticides, herbicides, polyaromatic hydrocarbons, phenols and VOCs.

The filter replacement times are based upon one person using an average of 150 litres of water per day for drinking, bathing and washing (55,000 litres per year). A wholehouse water filter should ideally be combined with a drinking water system. If you have a combi-boiler, a mega-flow system or have low water pressure, we recommend the WH6, instead of the WH3, with a high flow fitting kit - two braided stainless steel hoses that do not restrict the water flow to the unit.

Replacing the filters
The Pre-filter should be replaced every six months and the Carbon Block cartridge should be replaced every twelve months. This applies to both units so that the two Carbon Block cartridges on the WH6 both need to be replaced annually.

Filter reminder service
It is important to replace the filter candles in your water filter system on a regular basis. When you purchase your water filter we will put your name onto our filter reminder service so that you can keep your water filter functioning effectively. We offer this service for the drinking water systems, the wholehouse systems, the shower filters and the Crystal Ball bath dechlorinator.

Independent Quality Control Testing
The wholehouse filters are manufactured with ISO9001: 2000 Quality Assurance. NSF (National Sanitation Foundation), WRAS (Water Regulatory Advisory Scheme) and The Water Quality Association use a very strict set of criteria to continually monitor the filter candles and performance of the undersink units.

What size Wholehouse Unit do I need?
If there are 2 – 4 people in your family a WH3 will be sufficient.  If you have more than four we recommend the WH6. If you have low water pressure it is advisable to have the WH6 since it has twice the surface area on the filters so there is less water pressure drop.

What are the dimensions of the unit?
The WH3 measures 36cm x 19cm x 47cm the WH6 is 69cm x 19cm x 72cm.

Where would I put it and how much room do I need to fit it?
The unit should be located as near to the water feed into the property as possible.  On top of the dimensions stated above you must allow at least another 10cm in height for changing the filters.

Do I need a separate drinking water system or can I drink the water from the wholehouse system?
The Wholehouse Unit does improve the quality of the water by taking out the more common contaminants. The whole house system is made to remove contaminants from a high flow of water. Since it is removing contaminants from the washing, flushing and drinking water it does not have the same filtering capacity as the drinking water systems   In order to remove bacteria, cysts and trace organics, we recommend the addition of a drinking water system.

What is the difference between the WH3 and the WH6?
The difference is capacity and size.  The WH3 will suit up to a 4 person family and the WH6 can accommodate 4 persons and above.

Who would install the unit?
Full instructions are supplied with the unit and can be installed by someone with good DIY skills. Alternatively a local plumber should have no problem installing this unit.

Is there a water pressure drop when using a Wholehouse Unit and if so, what is it likely to be?
There can be a 5% - 10% drop in pressure depending on which cartridges you have.  If you have a megaflow system or already have low pressure a high flow kit will be needed.  If your flow rate exceeds 51/3bar (80psi) a pressure regulator must be fitted to reduce the pressure to 70psi.

How often should I change my filters?
The pre-filter should be changed every 6 months.  The carbon blocks should be changed every 6, 9, or 12 months depending on how many persons in the household.  Our Filter Reminder Service will automatically remind you in 12 months. Should you require replacements earlier please let us know and we will update our records.

Does the Wholehouse Unit take out oestrogens?
Activated carbon will remove organic compounds like oestrogen. The main cartridge in the wholehouse units is made of activated carbon.

General Information
When changing the filters in the whole house unit it is a good idea to run chlorinated water through the system for a couple of days. This sterilises the whole unit and gets chlorinated water through all the pipes.

Bore Holes -  If you have a bore hole please contact us for both wholehouse filtration and drinking water system advice.

The pressure requirement for town pressure is 3 bar.
