The BBC Health site carries a good article titles "Why red hair ups skin cancer risk". This was brought home to me at the weekend when my girlfriend (who has red hair and makes sure that she covers up and lathers herself with sunscreen) got sunburnt. The sun is very strong, and we sometimes do not notice how dangerous it can be. With the reduction in the levels of Ozone we all need to cover up and be more aware, wear good quality sunglasses and make sure we use sunscreen. Almost ten years ago I was in Patagonia, which is right under the Ozone hole. It was noticable how quickly I got sunburnt but also quite scary to see how almost all the locals over the age of 35 had melanomas, that is worth avoiding. But I digress.. read the full article here.
